From Our Deputy Sheriff Andrew Mata

I have proudly served my entire 27-year law enforcement career with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. Serving within the Southwest Patrol Station, I have remained committed to protecting and supporting the communities that make this region unique.

I was born at Camp Pendleton and raised in Oceanside, California. As a child, De Luz felt like a faraway land — a place of rolling hills, quiet roads, citrus groves, and breathtaking scenery. It represented the rural character and natural beauty that defines this part of Riverside County. Life has a way of coming full circle. Today, I have the privilege of serving the very community that once seemed distant and almost legendary to me. De Luz and the surrounding areas are more than patrol assignments — they are communities with deep agricultural roots, strong families, and a shared commitment to preserving a way of life that makes this region special.

It is truly an honor to serve here. Through this publication, I look forward to strengthening communication, sharing important information, and reinforcing the partnership between law enforcement and the community we proudly protect.
